On May 2nd 1937...CBS conducted a historic broadcast from Lotts Creek in Knott County.  The program was heard coast to coast and featured interviews and music from the people of East Kentucky.  Since there were no phones at Lotts Creek at the time, CBS sent the signal by short wave radio to Hazard.  From there the broadcast was sent by telephone to New York.  Alice Sloan, who stared the Cordia school, was featured on the program.  WSGS remembers
